lonely evergreen
though I pine for her,
I know she’s an evergreen,
a cold weather tree.

sometimes, love happens no matter how wrong we tell ourselves it is.

And sometimes a cold weather tree needs warm weather to temper the cold.

    Or something.

And sometimes we’re just wired to want what everyone else seems to know is the wrong thing for us ;)

Incidentally, this is merely a reworking of a haiku I originally wrote back in the fall of 06. Funny how thoughts about the one that got away never seem to stay away for good.

No, they absolutely never ever go away for good.

Frightening, when I think about it like that.

I like it. Just don’t spend too much of your life trying to thaw those who are frozen to the core while there are probably warmer trees out there ;)
