secondhand haiku: Haiku for Sally

When the day drags on / I know my dreams will be full / of your soft, grey eyes.

Since I’ve been writing for others to see, I’ve been gratified to receive kind words about my writing from various readers. Some offer simple words of encouragement, while others offer praise so flattering I can’t imagine deserving it. Benjamin Russell, author of this installment of the secondhand series, is a young poet for whom I have that sort of admiration.

Ben is one of a handful of writers whose contributions I’ve coveted since the secondhand project began, and I’m extremely gratified to have his participation. To read more of his fine writing, please visit him at Agitation of Hands. Strength of Words.

Haiku for Sally

I know my dreams will be full

  • Yeah, come on, Al...

This one is truly gorgeous. But come on, Al, even I had the guts to send one ;-)
  • Nice one. I didn't use to think much of haiku, but reading some of these has changed my opinion, including this one. It's amazing how much can be conveyed with so few words.

I've been thinking about sending one in myself, but the last few have been so good, I'm kind of intimidated now.
  • oh, come on, Al. don't let it scare you too much. everyone has at least a little poetry in them ;)
  • Shannon - yes indeed.

B - you're welcome. it is my privilege to play host to your haiku
