well, I do tech writing (functional specifications for a data warehouse among other tasks) so I need the person proofing my meeting minutes or specs to be critical of my writing and they need me to be critical of theirs (both wordsmithing and typos). That being said, I usually don't play word police as much as it seems outside of work (and get a little lax myself on caps and punctuation), but “espresso” is one of my pet peeves. And you'll note, I expressed glee you were right, not gloat you were wrong. I usually keep my mouth shut on such things if context doesn't warrant it.

i get it. despite the dyslexic experience, i'm also quite critical of other people's typographical issues.

i guess that's somewhat hypocritical, but now's no time to get sidetracked with my faults — especially when there are so many others out there to pick apart ;)

that came across differently on paper rather than it would verbally – I didn't mean “YOU spelled espresso correctly” as much as I meant “Thank god someone else out there seems to be able to spell it. ” The X spelling makes me sad. In general I have no lack of confidence in your spelling (although it is frequently a dyslexic problem), No offense meant.

thanks, Ellen! spelling espresso is one of the many skills i've picked up through the course of my dyslexic life ;)

on the other note, i don't know how she feels about the haiku — i haven't returned since it was finished. maybe next time out.
