a digital expression of an analog impulse
what and why
The non-breaking space ( ) is a seldom noticed hero of the internet. It’s the little snippet of html code in the background that gives words on a page a little extra cushion. To me, it’s a reminder of the things in life that separate us from our pain, stress, fatigue or whatever else creates in us the need to retreat, regroup, simplify.
Writing has been that kind of non-breaking space for me. This site is where I’ve decided to set some of that writing out for virtual world travelers to see.
The creative writing exhibited here is an ongoing collection of haiku, poetry, short fiction and essays I’ve amassed since I began scribbling things into notebooks years ago. Some of it’s new, but nearly all of it has been written somewhere else first, whether a college literary review, another website or a notebook somewhere. If you like what you see here, you might also be interested in checking out my book Cool Menthol Woman – haiku and other verse. If you want to try your hand at haiku and short poetry, you can even submit the handwritten results for me to post.
The navigation menu on the right side of this page can help you get around the site. If you have any observations or questions regarding what you see here, you can either leave a comment on a particular item or simply email me.
